What is RF / Microwave Filter?

https://cdjx-mw.goodao.net/filter/Radio frequency (RF) & microwave filters are defined as a kind of electronic filter, which are designed to operate on signals in the megahertz to gigahertz frequency ranges (medium frequency to extremely high frequency). This frequency range of the filter is the range used by most broadcast radio, television, wireless communication (cellphones, Wi-Fi, etc.), and thus most RF and microwave devices will include some kind of filtering on the signals transmitted or received. Such filters are commonly used as building blocks for duplexers and diplexers to combine or separate multiple frequency bands.

Functions:
1. Rf filter can reduce frequency band interference and improve the performance of co-located equipment.
2. An RF filter allows only the frequency and channel being transmitted or received to pass through and reduces signal interference outside the channel.

On the basis of its function, according to the frequency range of the working signal to classify RF filters, they are mainly divided into four categories, that is, low pass filter (LPF), high pass filter (HPF), band pass filter (BPF) and band stop filter (BSF).

1. Low-pass filter : It refers to the filter through which low frequency signal can pass but high frequency signal cannot pass;
2. High-pass filter: It is the opposite, that is, high-frequency signals can pass through and low-frequency signals cannot pass through;
3. Band-pass filter: It refers to the frequency in a certain frequency range of signals can pass, RF filter and outside the frequency range of signals can not pass;
4. Band-stop filter: The performance of a band-stop filter is the opposite, that is, signals in a band range are blocked, but signals outside this frequency range are allowed to pass through;

RF filters can be classified into SAW filter, BAW filter, LC filter, cavity filter, ceramic filter according to the structure or material of them as well.
